The drill driver is the absolute workhorse of your toolkit
It's the tool you grab 10 times a day — for drilling, driving screws, mixing paint, removing wheels, assembling furniture and everything else. And because you use it so often, it also constantly gets thrown wherever, where it's neither easy to find nor good to have standing around.
A good wall bracket solves the problem for under 100 kr. Here's what you need to know about choosing the right one.
What types of wall brackets for drill drivers are there?
1. Classic wall mount
The simplest design: a bracket or hook on the wall where the drill driver hangs with the nose pointing down. Takes up the least space and is quick to install. The downside is that the drill driver can swing back and forth if it gets knocked.
2. Drawer-mounted holster
The holder is mounted under a shelf bracket or desk edge so the drill driver hangs vertically with the nose down. Practical because it doesn't take up wall space — but requires an edge to mount on.
3. Wall-mount with battery pocket
The most sophisticated design: the wall bracket holds the drill driver in an upright position with a pocket for an extra battery beside it. You have both the machine AND your spare battery ready at hand.
4. Under-shelf holder
Designed to mount under an existing shelf or cabinet. The drill driver hangs in a spring mechanism you press it into. Ideal if you have a small workshop where wall space is limited.
What should the wall bracket fit?
A wall bracket is not universal — it's designed specifically for the shape and size of your drill driver. The most popular drill drivers in Denmark are:
- DeWalt DCD791 / DCD796 — 18V XR impact drill, popular with contractors
- Makita DDF482 / DDF483 — 18V LXT drill driver
- Bosch GSR 18V-50 / GSR 18V-60 — Professional 18V
- Milwaukee M18 FUEL — 18V brushless professional
- Parkside PABS / PSBSA — Lidl's hobby series
- Hilti SF 6H-A22 — Premium-grade contractor
Each brand has its own handle geometry and width, so a bracket designed for Makita won't fit DeWalt. We have specific brackets for all of these — see our drill driver holders collection.
Material guide: What should the bracket be made of?
Custom-made PETG (recommended)
Our brackets are designed and produced in PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) — a material with high impact strength and temperature resistance. PETG has the following advantages:
- Holds up to daily use and vibration
- Doesn't become brittle over time like PLA
- Tolerates 70°C — important in a garage without heat in summer
- Made in Denmark — you support local production
Steel
Classic steel brackets are strong but have two drawbacks: they scratch the machine's housing and they're not specifically shaped for modern cordless tools. Compared to precision custom-made brackets, steel variants are often more generic and less secure.
Plastic (injection-molded)
Standard plastic brackets from the hardware store are often too thin and break after 1-2 years. Plus they're typically only available for the most common brands — rare models are hard to find coverage for.
Installation: 3 simple steps
- Find the right placement — Measure 30-40 cm above a work surface, so the machine is easy to hang and take down. Not too high (hard to reach), not too low (you bump into it)
- Mark the holes — Hold the bracket against the wall, check with a level that it's straight, mark with pencil through the pre-drilled holes
- Drill and screw — Drill pilot holes (3mm for drywall, 6mm for masonry), insert wall plugs (for masonry) or drive screws directly (for studs), screw the bracket tight
Screws are not included as standard — you need to use 4×40mm or 4×50mm wood screws depending on the wall.
Pro-tip: Build a complete workshop system
Instead of mounting a single bracket in isolation, plan your entire workshop wall at once. Here's a typical setup that works well:
- Top row — Occasional tools (jigsaw, impact driver, etc.)
- Middle row (eye level) — Daily use (drill driver, cordless screwdriver)
- Bottom row — Heavy items (sander, circular saw)
- Between each row — Batteries and chargers
This gives you a natural workflow when retrieving and returning tools.
