The Ultimate Guide to Makita Mounts and Battery Holders

Wall mounts for batteries

Makita tools deserve more than a mess on the workbench

If you've invested in the Makita 18V LXT series, you know it's quality equipment you'll keep for many years. But when the drill, impact driver, jigsaw, and batteries are scattered across the bench — or worse, in a pile on the floor — it won't be long before they get worn, dirty, or go missing.

A good Makita wall mount solves the problem. Here's what you need to know when choosing wall brackets and battery holders for your Makita collection.

What Makita systems are there?

Before we talk about mounts, it's important to know which Makita battery system your tools use. Makita has several parallel systems:

  • Makita 18V LXT — The most popular system. Slider battery that locks in place with a clip. Used on most cordless tools (DDF, DTD, DGA, DJV, etc.)
  • Makita 14.4V — Older system, same slider format as 18V but not compatible
  • Makita 10.8V/12V CXT — Slim-line slider for compact tools
  • Makita 40V XGT — The newest high-power system, physically larger battery

A mount designed for 18V won't fit 40V XGT — and vice versa. Always check which system you have before buying a bracket.

Different types of Makita mounts

1. Wall brackets for tools

The classic wall bracket holds the tool itself (drill, impact driver, etc.) in an upright position on the wall. Our Makita Cordless Tool Wall Mount features an extra-thick base for stability during daily use — designed to handle vibration and repeated mounting/removal.

You can mount several of them in a row on your workshop wall so each tool has its own spot. Tell us what your workshop is equipped with — we have specific brackets for drills, impact drivers, circular saws, jigsaws, and more.

2. Battery holders

Makita batteries have a tendency to wander. One hour they're in the charger, the next they're on the bench, and an hour later they're just gone. Battery holders give each battery a dedicated spot — typically in sets of 2, 4, or 6.

The smart thing about custom-made battery holders is that they use the same slider mechanism as the battery — you slide the battery into the holder as if it were a tool. It holds securely, but is easy to pull out when you need it.

3. Charger wall mounting

Makita DC18RC or DC18SD chargers usually just sit on the bench taking up valuable space. Mount them on the wall and free up space for work. The bracket for the charger uses the same mounting holes as the charger's back, so there's no modification needed.

4. Bit and accessory holder

Screwbits, drill bits, depth stops, and other small items constantly disappear. A dedicated bit holder next to your impact driver keeps them within reach and organized.

How to choose the right Makita mount

When planning your workshop, start with these questions:

  • Which tools do I use daily vs. occasionally? — Daily-use tools should be at eye level, frequently used tools at side level, rarely used tools at the top or bottom
  • How many batteries do I have? — Typically get 2-4 more holders than you have batteries, so there's always room for new equipment
  • What type of wall do I have? — Brick requires Fischer plugs, drywall requires either toggle bolts or screwing into studs
  • Do I use an L-Boxx or Systainer? — If you have Makita's modular case system, it might make more sense to invest in a whole shelf wall for L-Boxxes

Material: PLA vs PETG for Makita brackets

We manufacture your Makita brackets in PETG as standard. Why?

  • PETG withstands 70°C without deforming. Important if your workshop is in an unheated/uncooled garage or if the sun hits the brackets
  • PETG is more impact-resistant than PLA — handles vibration from cordless tools better
  • PETG has better flex tolerance — it won't crack when you press a battery in with force

PLA is fine for light decorative items, but not for tool mounts that need to hold 1-3 kg of battery weight for many years.
